Allura Jolie, RYT 200
“And every day the world will drag you by the hand saying ‘this is important...and this is important… you need to worry about this, oh and this, and this’ and each day it is up to you to yank it back and place your hand on your heart and say ‘no this is what’s important”
Yoga, to say in brief, has been my reminder of what is real and guide to self-mastery. It has never been about the fancy poses I can swing (although those can be quite exciting) but rather it’s abilities to dissolve illusions and unveil a remembrance of truth and connection to source. In my growing self practice, I dive daily into equal part asana and pranayama/meditation practice, which I feel will become my overall approach for teaching as well. Fewer poses, longer holds, awareness of prana (energy), and sensitizing ourselves to the simplicity of movement is how I can fully release and tap into the deepest forms of myself which has invited me to understand that doing more of less ultimately bares much more fruit! I believe as a teacher I can only give to the extent in which I’ve embodied and fully felt, apart from and beyond intellect or obtained knowledge. I also would like to acknowledge that although I have my own way of presenting material, as do we all being unique beings, I recognize that I am always the student of these lineage based practices and as a “teacher” I am more-so one of the messengers of these ancient traditional teachings and they are not in any way my own. My hope is that these values can create an environment of integrity, sacredness of tradition, and space for self nurturance and personal wonder.
