Class Descriptions
At Breathing Lotus we pride ourselves at making our classes accessible and welcoming. To create a space of comfort and predictability, we have assigned “levels” to our classes. This is not a hierarchy. It’s simply a way for you to know what will be offered on the physical level.
Level 1 - gentle
Level 2 - balanced between gentle and flowing with moments of challenge
Level 3 - energizing and strengthening with a balance of flow and challenge
ALL OF OUR CLASSES ARE TAUGHT BY HIGHLY SKILLED TEACHERS WHO KNOW HOW TO ADAPT AND MODIFY FOR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.
-
Chair Yoga is an accessible practice that builds strength in the body and balance in the nervous system. Chairs are used not only for seated movement, but as supportive props when standing. This is the perfect practice for those recovering from injury or with limited physical ability for any reason.

-
This practice employs somatic yoga (embodied movement) qigong, and meditation to quiet the mind, rejuvenate the body, and calm the nervous system.
Level 1
-
Slow, gentle and deeply restorative - this class is the perfect antidote to the busyness of modern day life. A taste of sound healing and Reiki may alos be offered throughout practice.
This class runs for 75 minutes
Level 1
-
Hatha Yoga is a traditional style of yoga which includes asana (postures), pranayama (energy cultivation through the breath) and mindfulness. Postures may be held longer and/or intertwined with vinyasa sequences (flowing from one posture to the next). Expect a moderately physically challenging class with plenty of modifications given to meet individual needs.
Level 2
-
Experience full spectrum yoga. Asana (poses), pranayama (breath work) and meditation are mindfully incorporated into this class, allowing students to experience the benefits of yoga - body, mind and spirit. Expect intelligent sequences of both static and dynamic postures, a chance to reflect and absorb the wisdom of yoga, and deeply relaxing savasana.
This class is scheduled for 75 minutes
Level 2 - 3
-
Intuitive Slow Flow is a nurturing, fluid yoga class guided by intuition and tailored to the needs of the group.
Level 2
-
Move slow, breathe deep and care for your entire being with Jess’s nurturing guidance.
After slow mindful yoga, enjoy an extended savasana with sound meditation.
Level 2
-
In vinyasa yoga, poses are linked one to the next in a flowing and purposeful way. In this class we slow down and take our time, mindfully moving from one asana to the next. this gives students a chance to linger a little longer in each pose, breathe a little deeper and explore the practice. We love moving slow, and we think you will too!
Level 2
-
This class focuses on the cultivation, direction and movement of your innate life force energy called (Chi/Qi). Through gentle movement, breath work, mind focus and visualization, this practice will help to unblock, strengthen, revitalize and heal the body, mind and spirit. This class is based on the foundational principles of 5 elements Qigong as taught in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We will explore the Yang style 13 form, 8 Brocades and Shibashi (18 movements)
Level 1 - 2
-
Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative style of yoga where postures are held for several minutes. The practice targets the deeper connective tissues of the body while encouraging relaxation, breath awareness, and inner stillness. Yin offers a beautiful balance to more active forms of yoga and supports flexibility, joint health, and nervous system regulation.
Level 1 - 2
-
In Vinyasa Yoga, asana (yoga postures) are sequenced together in a way that creates a dynamic series of movements. At Breathing Lotus, expect our vinyasa classes to be moderate to physically challenging, intelligently sequenced and to go beyond the physical aspects of yoga. Classes may include Pranayama (yogic breath work), meditation and Yoga philosophy.
Classes are scheduled for 75 minutes. Modifications will be offered to make class accessible to most.
level 2 - 3
-
Strengthen and balance body, mind and spirit, starting from exactly where you're at. Yoga teaches us that to grow, we must be willing to lean into what challenges us. In this class, you are invited to do just that in a safe, non judgmental and supportive environment.
Plenty of modifications will be given to make this class accessible to most.
