The Art of Teaching Pranayama: Breath, Energy & Skillful Sequencing

with Colleen Duggan, ERYT 500, YACEP

Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31, 10:30 am - 5pm both days

Uplevel your teaching with the confidence, clarity, and skill to share pranayama in ways that are intelligent, purposeful, and deeply supportive — while deepening your own relationship with Prana Shakti.

Pranayama is one of yoga’s most powerful practices — a bridge between body, mind, energy, and awareness. Yet many teachers feel unsure how to teach breath practices beyond simple cues in class. This weekend immersion is designed to help yoga teachers and teachers-in-training deepen their personal practice while learning the art of teaching pranayama with intelligence, care, and confidence.

Together, we’ll explore how to choose, sequence, and teach breath practices in ways that support grounding, balance, vitality, focus, and inner steadiness. We will go beyond the basics for a more nuanced understanding of prana and pranayama.

This weekend is for you if you are a yoga teacher or teacher-in-training who wants to:

  • Teach pranayama with more confidence, clarity, and care

  • Understand the energetic effects of different breath practices

  • Learn how to sequence pranayama skillfully within yoga classes

  • Explore breath as a bridge between body, mind, nervous system, and subtle energy

  • Offer breath practices that are intelligently chosen for the students in front of you.

  • Know when, why, and how to include pranayama in asana classes, privates, workshops, or class series

  • Deepen your own personal relationship with pranayama as part of your sadhana

  • Create meaningful breath-centered experiences for your students

During this weekend immersion, we’ll explore:

  • Yogic energetics including prana, nadis, and vayus.

  • How breath practices influence energy, mood, focus, and inner steadiness

  • Nervous system considerations and trauma-sensitive teaching principles

  • Contraindications, modifications, and accessible options

  • Where and what kind of pranayama fits within a yoga class

  • How to use pranayama to support grounding, calming, balancing, energizing, and meditation

  • How to craft a pranayama workshop or beginner-friendly series

  • Practice teaching, sequencing, reflection, and integration

You’ll leave with:

  • Greater confidence teaching pranayama in classes, privates, workshops, and series

  • A deeper understanding of breath, energy, and sequencing

  • Practical teaching tools you can use right away

  • Sample class and workshop structures

  • Practice notes and sequencing guidance

  • A renewed connection to your own breath practice
